Two Brands Sewn Under One Roof
Organic Climbing and Nittany Mountain Works products are built by the same team in our Pennsylvania workshop. We make durable, distinctive gear for climbing, riding, and everyday life—cut, sewn, and packed by people who use it.
OUR BEGINNING
It Started With a Crash Pad That Needed to Last.
In the early 2000s, founder Josh Helke was living on the road, climbing regularly, and watching crash pads get cheaper and less durable.
He thought someone should make one that could take the abuse.
So he did.
That idea became Organic Climbing: an independent company built around simple, durable gear made by people who actually use it.
ABOUT US
Two Brands. One Way of Making Things.
Organic Climbing grew out of bouldering, with crash pads, chalk bags, packs, and accessories made for life outside.
Nittany Mountain Works brings the same hands-on approach to bike bags, everyday packs, and gear designed to make the miles a little better.
Different products. Different histories. The same workshop, crew, and commitment to making things well.
HOW WE MAKE THINGS
Made Here Means Something
From the people behind the machines to the materials we choose, keeping production close lets us make better gear and waste less along the way.
Made Close to Home
Most of our soft goods are cut, sewn, inspected, and packed right here in our Philipsburg shop. Keeping production close means we can stay involved from first cut to final stitch.
People, Not an Assembly Line
Our gear is made by a skilled crew—not anonymous factory lines. The people making it know the products, the materials, and what climbers expect from them.
Use Good Stuff. Waste Less of It.
We choose materials for durability and performance, then look for smart ways to use what’s left. Better materials and less waste make products we’re proud to stand behind.
Powered by the Sun.
Made by Us.
Our workshop runs on solar power. When it produces more energy than we use, the extra goes back to the local grid. We didn’t install solar panels just to put another claim on a label. They are part of the same approach we bring to our products: take care with the process, avoid unnecessary waste, and build for the long haul.
